"Play is fundamental to life, as humans play is how we learn. It predates language and even humanity itself. Play is what makes interactive media so compelling, it evokes feelings in ways that watching, reading, or listening alone do not.

As a tech artist, my goal is to make my team’s work feel like play. I strive to eliminate the tedium that creates points of failure in the pipeline and create easy-to-use rigs and animation tools to fill the animators’ toybox. By streamlining those processes through the integration of scripting, I can find my own play as well. As an artist, I aim to represent details and experiences that are often overlooked or undervalued; accurately simulating the metachronal gait of a millipede, simulating the fluffy princess dress of a child’s dreams, or even creating new, game-ready, anatomical deformation that allows a vast cosmic horror and it's unfathomable limbs to interact believably in an environment during runtime."

Cal Wohnoutka is a graduate student at the University of Central Florida's Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy and a recent graduate of the University of Southern California's Interactive Media and Games program.

They specialize in Technical Animation, with a primary focus in rigging.
